A Trip to Munnar

Tucked in the lush green forest, pleasant climate and away from the heat and dust of the metropolitan cities, Munnar offers pleasant environment along with the sight of finest tea plantations in the country. Situated at a height of around 1600 meters above sea level, this hill station doesn’t experience the extreme climatic condition and has salutary climate making it favourable to visit throughout the year.

Visit in Winter
One can plan their trip in September just after the rainy season. One can look out for lush green tea gardens and beautiful waterfalls with a good flow of water. It will be a great experience if you get an occasional shower while you are on your trip. During this season, the climate is pleasant and cold. This is also a great time to do some adventure activities such as rock climbing, trekking, and rappelling. 

Visit in Summer
The month of March marks the beginning of Summer. Even during the summer season, the climate is cold, calm and pleasant. Summertime is a perfect time for travelers for sightseeing and visiting famous tea gardens.

Visit in Monsoon
Though traveling becomes a bit difficult during the monsoon season, it is the best time to enjoy some quiet holiday and experience the cool weather. During monsoon, climate is very cold and temperature can even drop below 0-degree Celsius.

Mountain Biking
Bike trip around the countryside through the western ghats will take you around lavish green tea gardens, shola forest, cardamom estates, and many other tourist places.  Mountain Biking is a casual way of getting around the Munnar hill station.

Elephant Safari at the Carmelagiri Elephant Park
Carmelagiri Elephant Park is a private park which offers complete fun for the nature enthusiasts as well as for the elephant lovers. This private park allows Elephant Safari for travellers, as this activity is carried across a few places in India. Duration for the safari is 30 minutes, riding through dense forests and winding hill roads of the elephant park.

Cheeyapara Waterfalls
Cheeyapara Waterfalls is considered among the best trekking locations in Idukki district. This waterfall flows down in 7 steps making it a panoramic view from the bottom. Many nature and water sports enthusiasts visit this waterfall as it offers complete trekking experience.

Pothamedu ViewPoint
This magnificent place is visited by many travelers all around the world. This is another site which allows you to take one step closer to the nature by trekking through the lush green forest. You can have a mesmerizing view of green hills from this point. On your way to Pothamedu ViewPoint through an old bridge and narrow roads, you can experience scenic views throughout your drive.

Kolukkumalai
Treat yourself with the refreshing aroma of the tea plantation. Kolukkumalai tea estate is considered as one of the highest tea plantations of the world. This tea estate is famous among the travelers for its flavored tea leaves. Nearby, decades-old tea factory is also a must visit to witness the age-old technique of tea processing.

TATA Tea Museum
TATA Tea Museum is one of the significant places here. This museum exhibits unique photographs that showcases the age-old tradition, growth, and evolution of the tea plantation in this hill station. Along with the photographs it also withholds traditional tea roller, power generator, and some antique power generators, railway engine, telephone systems, etc.
